British actress Helen McCrory, who plays Narcissus in the Harry Potter films, has died of cancer. She was 52 years old. The death was announced on Twitter by her husband Damian Lewis, who is also an actor.
“I report with a broken heart that a beautiful and strong woman, Helen McCrory, died after a heroic battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of friends and family. She died the way she lived. No fear. We loved her and we know how lucky we were, “that she was a part of our lives. She shone so brightly. Now go, my dear, to heaven and thank you,” Lewis wrote.
They had two children together. McCrory lost the role of Belatrix in the Harry Potter film due to her pregnancy in 2007, but a few years later she got the role of her sister Narcissa. She also appeared in the James Bond film Skyfall. During her acting career, she has won several theater and television awards.
McCrory’s father was a diplomat and traveled much of the world with his family as a young man.
