Director and visual artist Širina Nešata, who The land of dreams started as a photo project with the Iranian artist Shoi Azari, this satire is called Trump, a product of the era of corporate and social network performance. Tickets for the film screening are still available on the Riga IFF website.
Actor William Mosley, who plays one of the main roles in the film, plays a romantic poet who has fallen in love with the film, who is in love with the main character of the film, Simina, thus becoming a parody of the American loner.
Mosley, which Latvian viewers could recognize from their roles Chronicles of Narnia trilogy movies or the world famous American series The Royals, Temporarily staying in Latvia due to a new project – the actor portrays the writing classic Edgar Allan Poe in a horror film Ravens Claw.
In the movie The land of dreams, which is part of the Riga IFF Retrospektīvas sections The Rossellinis and the CenturyActors Matt Dylon, Isabella Rosellini, Anna Ganna and many others meet in bright Americana cartoons. Meanwhile, the role of Simina is brought to life by Sheil Vanda, one of the best-known actresses of Iranian descent. Some might remember her as a hijab vampire girl from a black and white western The girl goes home one night (2014).
Enjoying the cinema in the current conditions must be as safe as possible – taking care of the safety of all festival visitors, Riga IFF face-to-face screenings and events take place at the green security level set by the Cabinet of Ministers. They can be visited only with:
- interoperable EU digital certificate for COVID-19 vaccination or disease (with QR code)
- a valid identity card (passport or eID).
Document inspection will be performed at the entrance to the event venues. Distance restrictions, the use of masks and disinfection measures are required throughout the cinema.
