The body of British actor Julian Sands was found in the mountains of California on Saturday morning. This was confirmed by the local police on Tuesday.
Sands, 65, was reported missing by his wife on January 13 after he failed to return from a hike near Mount Baldy, near Los Angeles. A rescue operation was immediately set up, but it was soon called off due to bad weather.
Local authorities at the time advised hikers against entering the area due to dangerous conditions due to ice formation. In the same period, there were rescue operations for at least 14 other missing hikers. Two of them were found dead. Sands was an avid walker and regularly ventured out on his own.
Saturday morning, two hikers discovered human remains at the spot where Sands went missing. Research has now shown that it is the actor’s body.
Sands has worked on more than 150 films and series since the early 1980s, including A room with a view, Leaving Las Vegas, Warlock and Arachnophobia. He also appeared in a season of the popular TV series 24.
