Unidentified drones have been seen over three US Air Force (USAF) bases in England over the past six days, a US Air Force spokesman confirmed today.
“Small, unmanned aircraft were spotted near and over Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Feltwell air bases between November 20 and 26,” the spokesman said in an emailed response to a Reuters query.
Two of the bases are in Suffolk and the third in Norfolk, and the US leases them from Britain.
A spokesman for Britain’s Ministry of Defense said authorities were taking “threats seriously and maintaining strong measures” at military sites. “We are supporting the US Air Force’s response,” he added.
