Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Prime Minister Britain’s Rishi Sunak confirmed it would send two naval ships and two reconnaissance aircraft to the eastern Mediterranean for support Israel who is at war with Hamas Palestine since the last six days.
“Together with our allies, our world-class military deployment will support efforts to ensure regional stability and prevent further escalation,” Sunak said in a statement on Thursday (12/10).
Sunak said that British military assistance to Israel included P8 aircraft, two naval ships namely RFA Lyme Bay and RFA Argus, three Merlin helicopters and a company of Royal Marines.
Sunak said surveillance planes and patrol planes would start flying to the Mediterranean from Friday (13/10) to “track threats to regional stability such as the transfer of weapons to terrorist groups.”
Sunak said the military deployment would be prepared to provide “practical support” to Israel and offer “deterrence and reassurance.”
“Our military and diplomatic teams across the region will also support international partners to rebuild security and ensure humanitarian aid reaches the thousands of innocent victims of this barbaric Hamas terrorist attack,” Sunak was quoted as saying AFP.
Currently, Britain is one of Israel’s strongest allies and has prepared various types of equipment to protect Israel.
Apart from Britain, the United States, France, Australia, Germany and Austria also sent military support to Israel.
America sent the navy’s most advanced and newest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, and several equipment, resources and ammunition which will arrive in Israel in the coming days.
Hamas began attacking Israel on Saturday (7/10). They claim the aim of this attack is to end the last occupation of the earth.
Israeli troops then responded by launching Operation Iron Sword which was claimed to target Hamas infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
The attacks from both parties continued and the war even spread further after Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon joined in attacking each other. Israel has even launched attacks on Syrian territory several times.
The death toll as a result of the latest war between Israel vs Hamas Palestine reached 2.3.27 people as of Wednesday (11/10) night.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health recorded that at least 1,100 people were killed and 5,339 others were injured in the Gaza Strip, an area controlled by Hamas and the target of Israeli attacks.
In the Palestinian West Bank, at least 27 people died and 150 others were injured as a result of Israeli attacks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported that at least 1,200 people had died in its territory since the Hamas attack took place last Saturday.
Quoted CNNspokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Daniel Hagari, said that so far 189 of his soldiers had died in the war.
