Today, Sunday, the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, received the UK Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Hurndall, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli.
The meeting comes to discuss developments in the political and security situation in the country, according to the media office of the Presidential Council.
The British Ambassador renewed her country’s commitment to support the efforts of the Presidential Council to achieve stability in the country, and its support for the democratic path, appreciating the position of the Council in support of the plan of the UN envoy to Libya in order to achieve national ownership and national consensus, leading to holding parliamentary and presidential elections before the end of the current year 2023.
The British Ambassador also gave a briefing on the ongoing arrangements for holding the next meeting of the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee, as this briefing comes after the transfer of the co-chairmanship of the Security and Military Track Committee to the United Kingdom.
In turn, Al-Munfi affirmed the Presidential Council’s continued support for the work of the committee, which aims to stabilize the ceasefire and unify the military institution.
