BERLIN (Dow Jones) – Union faction leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) has shown itself open to using tracking apps in a transition phase after the lockdown. He can imagine such a way to prevent new infections, said Brinkhaus Focus Online. “The intelligent handling of data is certainly part of the solution for the transition phase,” he said. “We take data protection very seriously. But we take health protection even more seriously.” At the same time, he made it clear that details were still to be discussed. There are “different escalation levels”.
He also thought that a debate about an exit from the era of rigid restrictions on freedom was premature. “Now is not the time to talk about the exit.” The lockdown is just beginning to take effect, the effect has to be seen. At the same time he showed understanding for politicians like his party friend Carsten Linnemann, who had asked that after Easter one had to “start up the shop again”. The current state cannot be maintained forever. However, one could “not yet seriously name a date”.
