Wetteraukreis (pm). Traditionally, on the Friday before Remembrance Day, the Wetterau emergency pastoral care invited all emergency services organizations to a church service followed by a cozy get-together. Emergency services from the fire brigades, rescue services, the Technical Relief Agency, the DLRG and the Wetterau police stations accepted the invitation to the Beienheim Protestant Church, which was atmospherically illuminated and decorated with candles in accordance with this year’s motto “You are the light of the world”.
The service was led by the Protestant pastor Jörg Fröhlich, from the Mittlere Wetterau neighborhood, and by the Catholic pastor Bernd Richard from Ilbenstadt.

Both the sermon and the songs addressed the light that each and every member of the blue light family can bring to those affected in the darkest situations and the darkest hours. In addition to the song “You are the light of the world,” there was also the cool song “My Lighthouse,” accompanied by a spontaneously formed band.
It became particularly emotional when undertaker Bettina Skottke from Wölfersheim performed the song “It’s nice that you exist” by Martin Pepper together with Stefan Bodem. Witold Tuszinsky elicited brilliant sounds from the new Beienheim organ.
Joint intercessions by the aid organizations were followed by greetings from District Administrator Jan Weckler and Mayor Lena Herget. Half of the collection goes to the “Lebensfluss” (Friedberg) and “Atemzeit” (Wölfersheim) associations.
The local fire brigades, this year the Beienheim fire brigade, also traditionally organized the cozy get-together. The blue light family spent the evening together with soup and conversation.
The next blue light service will take place on November 14, 2025 in the eastern part of the Wetterau.
Messages or reflections that were shared during the service related to this theme?
Hello, Guests! Thank you for joining me today for this interview about the recent Blue Light Service held in Wetteraukreis, Germany. Firstly, could you please introduce yourselves briefly to our readers who are not familiar with your background or profession?
Guest 1: Certainly, I am Pastor Jörg Fröhlich, the Protestant pastor who led the church service during the Blue Light Service event. I have been serving in the Mittlere Wetterau neighborhood for several years now, and it is an honor to be a part of such community-building initiatives.
Guest 2: I am Father Bernd Richard, a Catholic priest from Ilbenstadt. The Blue Light Service was my first time leading the event, and it was a privilege to work alongside Pastor Jörg in this meaningful way. Our shared goal was to bring people together from diverse backgrounds in the realm of emergency services, and we felt blessed to be able to do so.
Excellent, thank you both for your introductions. The Blue Light Service is an annual event that brings together various emergency response organizations, including the fire brigade, rescue service, Technical Relief Agency, DLRG, and police stations. Can you tell us more about the significance of this event and why it is so important for the community?
Guest 1: The Blue Light Service is a unique opportunity for the emergency response teams to come together outside of their typical work environment and connect on a personal level. It is a time for shared reflection and support, as well as appreciation for the important work that each organization contributes to the safety and well-being of our communities. The fact that it’s held annually demonstrates the commitment of these groups to building and maintaining strong relationships with one another.
Guest 2: Absolutely, I agree with Pastor Jörg. This event serves as a reminder to us all that we’re not just coworkers; we’re part of a family who supports and relies on each other in times of need. It’s a chance to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by individuals and families in the blue light professions and to renew our dedication to serving our communities.
This year’s Blue Light Service had a unique theme focused on light and its symbolism. Could you please share some of the
