It is now totally necessary for all students to return to class. This was said on bTV Radio by Asen Alexandrov, director of 51 Sofia University “Elisaveta Bagryan” and chairman of the Association of Directors in Secondary Education.
“They don’t learn, they don’t have motivation, it’s just a trick for many students,” he said of distance learning.
Alexandrov explained that 51 SUs are ready to buy the tests for upper grade students with money from the school budget, but the guidelines are written in a way that does not allow them to do so, and they have to wait for the state order. According to him, they are currently in a stalemate.
“In Bulgaria we are very sensitive when there is no common solution for everyone. In my opinion, more local solutions should be sought. We will continue to look in this direction – to buy such tests from smaller companies, and then the state to reimburse them.
We planned to renovate two rooms, but what are these rooms for us if they are empty? Eventually, the priorities are rearranged. The school can be unrepaired, but with children, “he added.
According to the director of 51 Sofia University, it is almost impossible to gather a class of 50% of students with a green certificate. “On average, we have somewhere between 5-8 children with a green certificate. Classes will be returned, which are counted on the fingers of both hands, “he added.
So far, there is not a single child who has given a positive result in testing at 51 Sofia Schools. According to the principal, this is due to the fact that parents are already considering not sending children with symptoms to school.
