Brilliant in the Bundesliga – but how about otherwise?

Even after 21 match days, SC Freiburg is on a Champions League spot. But how is the situation in the U23, the women and in the youth sector? Is there reason to celebrate here too?

Fahrner as a regular player

Thomas Stamm’s team has already collected a strong 45 points from 23 games. The situation is better with the U17s. But even here, staying up in the league is not a done deal. With 19 points, Bernhard Weis’ boys are currently in eighth place. With only two matches left against the top team Hoffenheim and Spvgg Unterhaching, a lot has to go wrong to slip into a relegation zone – but it’s not completely impossible.

One or, in the worst case, even two descents would definitely be anything but ideal in terms of integrating young players into the active area. But even in this case, those responsible would certainly come up with something.

The situation for the SCF women’s footballers is more gratifying. After a good half of the season, the women’s team is in fifth place in the Bundesliga. The cushion on the two relegation zones is sufficiently large, but the gap to third place is only four points. With a good run, the team could certainly attack a little further up the rankings.

Things are a little tighter for the U20s, who play in the 2nd Bundesliga. As tenth in the table, the team is currently only three points ahead of the first relegation zone – which FC Ingolstadt holds. Here, too, an exciting final spurt awaits.

Conclusion: Those responsible at SC Freiburg will certainly not be bored, because there is still a lot at stake in almost all teams. First and foremost, it will of course be exciting to see whether the prank elf might even succeed in qualifying for the premier class for the first time. If this doesn’t work out and the Europa League jumps out as a “consolation prize”, nobody will be sad either.
