Upper Palatinate. In this challenging year, the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Upper Palatinate / Kelheim honored the 46 best graduates of vocational training from Upper Palatinate and the Kelheim district.

Unfortunately, a face-to-face event for the best honors could not take place due to the corona pandemic, “however, we do not want to miss out on honoring our best apprentices who have performed at their best despite the difficult conditions in the Corona year,” emphasizes the IHK President Michael Matt.
Three North Upper Palatinate among Germany’s best
Of around 3,700 test participants in summer 2020, 31 technical and 15 commercial trainees shone with excellent performance in their specialist area. 22 trainees from this year’s winter and summer exams became the best in their field in Bavaria. Nine apprentices were even among the best graduates of an apprenticeship in IHK professions in Germany.
Three apprentices from the northern Upper Palatinate are among the best in Germany: Felix Meierhöfer, Frank Nickl and a trainee from Seltmann who does not want to be named. With their excellent performance, they all showed the potential of the Northern Upper Palatinate in the crisis year 2020. A total of six other trainees were convincing at Bavaria level and nine trainees were honored at the test district level.
Basis for a successful, professional future
“The Corona year demanded a lot from all of us – the trainees, their training companies and also the IHK, which is responsible for the exams in training and further education,” says IHK President Matt. Nevertheless, the system of vocational training works, not least thanks to joint efforts and the great creativity and flexibility of the companies, even in times of crisis.
“In this difficult year, the apprentices achieved their best and laid the foundation for a successful professional future. Now it is also up to the companies to actively support their junior staff’s urge for further training, ”appeals Matt.
