Brighton beat Manchester United 2-1 at home at the Amex Stadium in a match of the second round of the English Premier League.
The match started with pressure from the visitors, but until the middle of the first half, they did not have an accurate shot. In the 32nd minute, veteran Danny Welbeck intercepted Kauro Mitoma’s ground pass to give the Seagulls the lead. In the counter-attack, Marcus Rashford equalized, but his effort was disallowed for offside.
At the start of the second half, the experienced James Milner sent a strong shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went over the goal. In the 51st minute, he again came out alone against Onana, let the ball pass technically past the guard, but Diogo Dalot shot with a determined split.
In the 60th minute, Amad Diallo sped into the home penalty area and delivered a sharp diagonal shot, the ball ricocheting off a Brighton defender and into the net.
The Red Devils got a second goal through Alejandro Garnacho, but it was disallowed because the ball hit Joshua Zirkzee, who was in an offside position. Deep into stoppage time, Brighton cruised to victory after Brazilian Joao Pedro took advantage of poor defensive positioning to head home.
