London –
England National Team has appointed a replacement Trent Alexander-Arnold for Euro 2020. He is a defender Brighton & Holve Albion Ben White.
Trent was included in one of the players that manager Gareth Southgate brought to Euro 2020. However, disaster came when Trent picked up an injury in a friendly against Austria last Wednesday.
Trent’s thigh injury is severe and requires him to rest for 4-6 weeks. That means Trent will have to miss Euro 2020 and cost England one of their best right-backs.
Then, England had the opportunity to bring in one player to replace Trent. From several names that appeared to the public such as Jesse Lingard or James Ward-Prowse, England chose Ben White instead.
Yes, White was one of the names in the England provisional squad and was finally dropped during the final announcement earlier this week. However, the Brighton defender is considered useful for England because he is a multifunctional player.
Besides being able to play at center back and left back, White also sometimes operates as a defensive midfielder. With Harry Maguire still not 100 percent fit, White’s presence is more needed than Ward-Prowse or Lingard.
White only played his debut match as a substitute against Austria. He then started last night as England beat Romania 1-0.
Ben White The 23-year-old has performed brilliantly at Brighton this season and has been the target of many big European clubs. He was the most featured player for Brighton last season.
He is also adept at playing the ball with his feet and can release passes from back to front. He made 78 tackles plus interceptions, 113 times pressing opponents and 264 times capturing the ball.
