REPORT – Until the end of the year celebrations, the city offers a night stroll, punctuated by illuminations projected on twenty heritage buildings.
Every night it’s the same cinema. The sun disappears and, as in children’s stories, a fairy-tale world enchants those whose eyes have been kept open. Initiated in 2004, the operation “Chartres en lumière” offers, for its 18e edition, a new scenography. The more refined projections than before, operated with equipment that uses laser technology, now run until 1 am on 23 monuments of the medieval city in a colorful saraband. Creatures escape from the bestiaries of the Middle Ages and roam the bridges and washhouses of the lower town with their strange air and disproportionate silhouettes. Salamanders, peacocks, winged tigers, monkeys, gazelles and wild unicorns wait, observe and suddenly leap from one bank to the other, on the stone facades.
