Bright classical music stars will perform in the 12th concert season of Little Mežotne Castle

In the twelfth concert season of Little Mežotne Castle, bright classical music stars will visit the castle: violinist Gidon Kremer, pianists Georgijs Osokins, Reinis Zariņš and Daumants Liepins, opera singers Alexander Antonenko, Zanda Svede and Egils Siliņš, trio “Fabel”, piano quartet “RIX” and other musicians.

According to the representatives of the Small Mežotne Castle, the twelfth concert season of the castle will be opened by a young, talented pianist Daumants Liepiņš on June 18 at 8 pm with a solo concert. The concert program will include works by Samuel Barber, Ferenc Lista and Enrique Granados.

On July 3, at 8 pm, the trio “Fabel” will visit the Small Mežotne Castle with the program “Cinema Reflections”: Anna Gāgane (clarinet), Linda Leine (piano) and Kristaps Bergs (cello). For this concert, the musicians have chosen works by Georg Pelēčs, Gabriel Fores, Pēteris Vasks and Nino Rota.

The concert “Kremer. Osokin. Dirvanauskaite” will take place on July 22 at 8 pm in the Small Mežotne Castle, with the participation of violinist Gidon Kremer, pianist Georgy Osokin and cellist Giedre Dirvanauskaite (Lithuania). The concert will feature works by Ferruccio Busoni and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

On July 31 at 7 pm, the piano quartet “RIX” invites: pianist Jānis Maleckis, violinist Sandis Šteinbergs, violinist Ilze Kļava and cellist Reinis Birznieks to the traditional concert of the Pēteris Vasks Foundation “Pēteris Vasks invites. Summer. Mežotne”. In the program: compositions by Armands Skuķis, Georgs Pelēčs, Pēteris Vasks and Tālivalds Ķeniņš.

On August 27 at 8 pm in the Small Mežotne Castle in the concert “Egils Siliņš, Zanda Švēde and Zilberti” bass baritone Egils Siliņš, mezzo-soprano Zanda Švēde, pianist Mārtiņš Ziberts and cellist Dace Zālīte-Zilberte will play. In the program: the most beautiful solo songs by Latvian composers Jāzeps Vītols, Emīls Dārziņš and Alfreds Kalniņš, Pēteris Vasks – Part III “Adagio” from the second concert “Presence”, as well as the world premiere of new works by Edgars Raginsks and Raimonds Tiguls.

The concert season of the Small Mežotne Castle will end on September 25 at 7 pm with the duo – world-famous Latvian tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko and multiple winner of the “Grand Music Prize”, great pianist Reinis Zariņš. The concert will feature G. Sviridov’s vocal music.

The concert organizers emphasize that, in accordance with the epidemiological requirements announced in the country and the conditions of the gathering, the concerts will take place both in the castle park and indoors. Taking into account the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 27, the concerts will be open to persons vaccinated or ill with “Covid-19”.
