For the Latvian hip-hop association “ReQi”, this year started with the release of a new composition, named after the well-known image of the film in Latvia – “Sprīdītis”. An animated single video clip has just been released.
Anna Brigadere’s already legendary work “Sprīdītis” is a story that tells about the joy and fantastic feeling provided by returning home. The music of Imants Kalniņš heard in the feature film “Sprīdītis” of the Riga film studio only brightens this feeling. After a couple of hours in the studio, music producer DJ Krii managed to create music with a similar mood, which also made the ReQi boys want to think and return for a second to those moments of life that have a special place in the memory box. In the moments you remember only with good, even if from the point of view of an adult it is clear that they actually did a lot of nonsense, ”says Edgar Bergholt, one of the members of ReQi.
The newly released composition was recorded in Mārtiņš Burkevics’ studio “BrasaJam”, but the group would like to thank animator Dace Liepa, animator and composer Sabīne Moore, as well as color correction performer Alma Emīlija Liepa for help in creating the video. It should be noted that “ReQi” is an energetic and creative group, the basic idea of which is the 90’s hip-hop winds with different genres. So far, the band has released four singles. It consists of Edgars Bergholcs, Andris Balodis, Kristaps Kalinka, DJ Krii (Kristaps Krievs), Aleksejs Balinskis (Alex) and Mārtiņš Burkevics.
