If you do not stop listening to Disney Plus and Netflix it is because both companies have managed to consolidate in the market, perhaps there is still no great Apple TV Plus series, but that does not mean that you should underestimate that other streaming service. In her quest for a success that gets everyone to subscribe, she has green-lit a new series that will star actress Brie Larson.

In accordance with Variety, Apple is preparing a series called Lessons in Chemistry. It is about the adaptation of a novel that has not yet been published and that will star the Oscar winner, Brie Larson. The project will be produced by actor Jason Bateman, star of Ozark – 90%, and written by the screenwriter Susannah Grant, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Erin Brockovich – 84%.
The show follows the story of Elizabeth, the character of Larson, a chemist who, in the 1960s, loses her job when she becomes pregnant. In a clever way, she gets a job hosting a TV cooking show in which she finds a way to teach her mostly female audience about science without raising alarms among the sexist community of the day.
Larson is best remembered for the drama The Room – 94%. In that claustrophobic drama, she played a young woman who is kidnapped by a man who sexually abused her for years even after he got her pregnant and she gives birth to their son. After escaping from their captor, the two must navigate the unsolicited media attention to the case, as well as the trauma of living in a small place for years and reintegration into everyday life.
Apple’s project joins a small list of originals that have managed to surprise. The service has dramas such as The Morning Show, about the dynamics of a morning news program after the departure of one of its hosts for sexual harassment; Dickinson – 100%, biographical show about the poet; and Servant – 88%, psychological thriller about a couple of young parents who lose their baby and use a doll to replace him until a babysitter replaces him with a real one.

It is also the second Apple title that Larson hopes to feature. The actress had signed up for the lead role in another series that will explore the true story of a CIA agent who served as a double agent to prevent terrorist groups from obtaining weapons of mass destruction. This other project had been delayed due to other commitments from the interpreter and, of course, the pandemic. It is paused for the moment.
In addition to this, Larson, who has managed to divide his career between blockbusters and independent films, will return in a few months to the Marvel universe. The actress recently revealed that she is training to reprise the role of Carol Danvers, one of the most powerful superheroes in that franchise, in Captain Marvel 2, which is scheduled to premiere in mid-2022 and will be another special installment in the saga.
