Bridget Maasland dismisses André Hazes’ relationship as a midlife crisis

“I felt a weight lifted off after I shared my side of the story on that podcast,” Bridget said when the magazine featured the story. “I just wanted to make it clear once: people can be so wrong. They have no idea how I really felt, how much fear I lived in, how sad I was.”

Now that all the butterflies have left, the presenter looks at her relationship with André Hazes with a different look and says that she was afraid of being left alone. “When someone gives you all the attention, you think: oh, I’m worth something. And then full of instincts. Afterwards I think: what? That was so strange, what was wrong with me?”

According to Bridget, she tends to lose herself quickly in a relationship, like a chameleon. She says: “I quickly bend to what I think the other person wants from me and then I lose myself. I don’t have to, I’m nice enough. I don’t feel so much that I’m bad at relationships, but when I am in love there is no land to sail with me.” According to the RTL star, it would help if someone would give her the feeling that she is good enough. “I’m very, very caring. That’s the last thing people expect of me.”

“I remain the caring type who leaves everything out of her hands for someone else, I try to keep thinking about that these days. But yes, I’m not in love now, so I can easily say that now,” continues the presenter. “It would be good for me to stay away from the real roosters. Someone can take care of me sometimes. And I can also allow that.”

In Behind The Perfect Picture, the online format around The Perfect Picture, Bridget said that despite everything, she still feels like a winner. “It is of course not fun to lose weight so close to the final, you also want to do that final. On the other hand: in principle I was allowed to do all the assignments and at a certain point it became a repetition, if I’m honest,” said the presenter.

According to Bridget, the program is “the most fun she’s ever worked on.” Should there ever be a season with former participants in the future, she will also say ‘yes’ wholeheartedly. Watch the whole video below:
