“Bridges of Good” volunteers prepare 9,000 food parcels

Yesterday, the “Bridges of Good” campaign witnessed the packing of 9,000 parcels containing food and in-kind aid. The Mubadala Arena Abu Dhabi building witnessed the influx of 1,200 volunteers of different ages and nationalities, who responded to the call, to participate in efforts to fill relief funds and food parcels. In its fourth week, the “Bridges of Good” campaign continues to fill food parcels, as it has so far managed to ship 5,000 tons of foodstuffs that were purchased from the local markets in the country or sold by good people, and were shipped directly to provide relief to those affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

Rashed Mubarak Al Mansouri, Assistant Secretary-General for Local Affairs at the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, said: “We were honored by the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and his children and grandchildren who contributed to packing food parcels and contributed to writing expressive words that raise The morale of the recipients of food parcels from the Syrian and Turkish peoples.

In statements to reporters, he pointed out that the visit of His Highness, the President of the State, may God protect him, indicates the keenness of the UAE leadership and people to give and provide relief to the afflicted wherever they are.
Al-Mansoori stated that coordination has been made to purchase foodstuffs from Arab countries, in preparation for the month of Ramadan, and to provide them with their needs during the holy month.

He stressed that the Bridges of Good campaign is continuing, and the needs are increasing, especially in terms of food, health and clothing, calling for concerted efforts by all segments of Emirati society to alleviate the suffering of these afflicted countries.
He pointed out that financial donations are easier to deal with than in-kind, as they allow the purchase of supplies such as foodstuffs, medicines, health tools and clothes from the affected countries themselves, which shortens the time for shipping and packing aid.

The role of volunteers
Al-Mansoori thanked the volunteers for the importance of their role in mobilizing in-kind aid, which was distributed between medical and food items and blankets, as part of the UAE’s efforts to provide urgent relief aid to those affected in Syria and Turkey, and within the framework of the “Bridges of Good” campaign organized by the “Authority”, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. International, the Ministry of Community Development, and a large number of charitable institutions in the country.

Ammar Dibo (a resident from Syria and a long-time Red Crescent volunteer) said: “The ‘bridges of goodness’ continue with the arms of Zayed’s sons and the blessing of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him.”
He added, “As a Syrian citizen, I thank the humanity of the UAE leadership and people, as it is number one, because it has crossed all borders with humanity.”

For her part, Faiza Al-Ghawi, (a Syrian resident), thanked the UAE for its efforts to support those affected by the earthquake in Syria, and it also gave the opportunity to the Syrians residing in the country to provide assistance to their brothers in Syria by helping to fill food parcels and in-kind aid.
Noura Younis (Syrian resident) said: “The UAE has always been proactive in extending a helping hand to brothers and friends around the world, and it was among the first countries to respond to the help of the Syrian people, praying to God to reward the UAE with all goodness and perpetuate glory in the UAE and provide wise leadership represented by His Highness Head of state health and wellness ».
