Yesterday the MIT announced the convening of the investigative services conference for “next April 16th”. «Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Salvini who has been following the dossier carefully since he took office, declared himself very satisfied and confident that the discussion will lead to the definition of the activities in the shortest possible time”, reads a note from the MIT. The CEO of the Strait of Messina Pietro Ciucci rejoices: «A further concrete step forward in the process aimed at building the bridge over the Strait of Messina». Thus, with a definitive project which has collected as many as 68 findings (without response to date) at the first authorization stage in the scientific committee appointed by Salvini himself, we start with the bureaucratic process. And progress is also being made quickly on the expropriation front: the notice will be published in a few days.

A race to authorize the most expensive and delicate work being planned in Europe today which is not met in terms of controls. Responding to a question from the member of Avs Angelo Bonelli, the Undersecretary for Infrastructures Tullio Ferrante announced that only last February the MIT issued the decree with the directives of Minister Salvini «for similar control over the Strait of Messina»: «This directive identifies the methods with which the control is exercised – we read in the text – for the purposes of exercising this form of control, Sdm will transmit the additional documents with the general contractor and the other contractors. Pending the definition of the aforementioned decree, the Sdm has forwarded in advance documents of strategic importance”. But the spa did it of its own accord and without the ministry independently requesting documents.
«Salvini had declared that any penalties imposed on the contractor fell within the autonomy of the dealership – says Bonelli – but we discover that the ministry had to supervise all the documents and for a year it did not do so».
