Bridge Collapse in India: Ganges River Bridge Falls Twice in 14 Months

A bridge under construction in India over the Ganges River collapsed on Sunday for the second time in 14 months, Reuters reported.

The bridge is located in India’s poorest state, Bihar. Eyewitness footage shows part of the 3km long facility falling into the water. One person is still missing after the incident. Construction was scheduled to be completed in 2019, but has faced numerous delays, including caused by an earlier collapse on April 30 last year due to strong winds and rain.

This is not the first such case in India in recent years. In October last year, a bridge in the western state of Gujarat collapsed, killing at least 132 people.
