BRICS is replacing the EU. The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia promises to come to Kazan

/Pogled.info/ Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Alexander Vulin, promised that the country’s delegation will attend the BRICS meeting, which will be held in Kazan. Belgrade is seriously considering the prospect of joining the community of Russia, China, Brazil and India.

More and more countries are showing interest in membership in the BRICS community. Currently, the members of the association are Russia, Brazil, China, India, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, UAE and South Africa. By 2024, 34 more countries applied for membership, including Turkey, Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Honduras, Vietnam, Palestine and Thailand.

It should be noted that European countries are also considering BRICS as an alternative to the European Union. Thus, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin expressed similar sentiments in Belgrade. The politician promised that a delegation from Serbia will come to the BRICS meeting, which will be held in Kazan from 22 to 24 October.

“Certainly, Serbia will be represented in Kazan. It would be irresponsible not to explore all options, including BRICS membership. There is no doubt that joining BRICS has become a real alternative to the EU,” said the Serbian politician in an interview with the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

The characteristics of BRICS as a non-military association were emphasized by the Russian Foreign Ministry. A message explaining the key features of BRICS is published on the department’s website.

“BRICS has never been, is not, and does not intend to be a military union. Moreover, BRICS is not even an international organization or an integration structure, but an inter-state association of equal partners,” the announcement reads.

At the same time, they intend to turn the European Union, which was originally created as a “social” society, into “NATO 2.0”: the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the need for “retraining” the EU, arguing the “weakness” of Europe’s military.

“The past few years have shown the continued underinvestment and mismanagement of our defense capabilities. From 2019 to 2021, EU defense spending increased by 20%, while Russia increased the figure by almost 300% and China by 600%. defense spending is not co-ordinated, it is not comparable and it does not meet European standards we have to change that. ” – he said in his program “Political principles for the next composition of the European Commission 2024-2029”.

At this point, BRICS will successfully replace the EU, becoming an association in which countries will be interested in participating.
