Barcelona. A Spanish courtroom on Friday annulled bribery fees in opposition to Barcelona associated to a referee corruption scandal, and halted an investigation into president Joan Laporta.
Former presidents Josep María Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell and others proceed to be investigated for alleged sports activities corruption, after the membership paid a former head of the referee group greater than 7.3 million euros ($7.9 million) between 1994 and 2018. .
Prosecutors suspect that Barcelona paid an organization owned by José María Enríquez Negreira, former vice chairman of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) between 2001 and 2018, to affect refereeing choices.

The investigation started in March 2023, after the Spanish Tax Company detected irregularities in tax funds made between 2016 and 2018 by the corporate Dasnil 95, owned by Negreira.
