BRI Link Employee Dies While Chasing Robber, Police: Perpetrator Shoots Gun at Victim’s Head

LAMPUNG, KOMPAS.com – BRI Link employee in Way Bungur District, East Lampung, was shot dead in the head by robbers.

The victim, named Leli Agustin (20), died while trying to stop a robber who took Rp 50 million in money on Friday (21/1/2022) afternoon.

East Lampung Police Chief AKBP Zaky Alkazar Nasution said, from the results of the crime scene (TKP) and examination of a number of witnesses, the victim died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting occurred when the victim was trying to catch the robber who fled after snatching the bag containing Rp 50 million in cash. The victim tried to snatch the bag from the perpetrator’s hands.

“When trying to grab the bag, the perpetrator fired a firearm at the victim’s head, until the victim died,” said Zaky via WhatsApp message, Sunday (23/1/2022).

Zaky added that the perpetrator opened fire once again when local residents came and tried to help the victim.

“The perpetrator then fled using a motorcycle,” said Zaky.

Zaky added that his party was assisted by the Resmob of the Lampung Police, who were still hunting and investigating the perpetrator.

“We, together with the Lampung Police Resmob Team, continue to work hard to hunt down and arrest the perpetrators of this robbery,” said Zaky.

The absence of CCTV cameras, said Zaky, made the investigation difficult.

“We ask every BRI Link to have a CCTV camera for security,” said Zaky.

Earlier, a BRI Link employee in Way Bungur District, East Lampung was shot dead by robbers.

The victim was shot twice while trying to stop the suspect from fleeing.

The armed robbery took place at Tri Lestari’s BRI Link on the eastern causeway (jalintim) of Add Subur Village, Way Bungur District on Friday (21/1/2022) at around 17.15 WIB.

The Head of Way Bungur Police, First Inspector (Iptu) Riki Setiawan said, the victim who died was Leli Agustin (20), a resident of Toto Projo Village.

“The victim who died was an employee at the BRI Link,” said Riki via WhatsApp message, Friday night.
