Brexit Live: Femi launches to blame the exit of the EU for economic problems: “The highest GDP in history!” | Politics

Brexit is not to blame for Britain’s economic problems, and the current poor economic outlook is due to a number of factors from the past.

Six years on, Britain democratically voted to leave the bloc, and Remainers continue to target Brexit. One expert noted that while the UK economy is in poor shape due to high inflation and stagnant wages and growth, leaving the group cannot be blamed for all of the UK’s problems.

Phil Mullen writes for Spidey: “If the recent shocks hit Britain hardest, it may be because it lacks the material resources and competent political leadership to deal with these shocks.

“These problems cannot be attributed to the Brexit vote or the end of the Brexit transition period earlier this year.”

Mullen continues: “A quick look at trends in business investment and output growth before and after 2016 shows how limited the impact of Brexit has been.

Trends show that post-Brexit fluctuations – and there will always be fluctuations – are a sideshow to the bigger picture of a long-term decline in UK investment and productivity growth.

“This economic downturn existed long before the referendum and shows no additional impact from Brexit.”
