Breukers can break record due to contract extension at Heracles | NOW

Tim Breukers extended his expiring contract with Heracles Almelo on Monday with a year. The 32-year-old defender can therefore break the record of most played games for the Tukkers next season.

Breukers only has to tolerate Kwame Quansah in that ranking. The former midfielder, who wore the Heracles shirt between 2004 and 2014, is at the top with 286 duels, 8 more than Breukers (278).

In fact, Breukers should have been on a par with Quansah this season, but the Eredivisie was halted eight rounds before the end due to the corona crisis, so it was uncertain whether that would still happen.

Breukers therefore sticks to it for an extra year and may start in September – until then professional football is prohibited in the Netherlands – to its eleventh season in the service of Heracles.

The Oldenzaler started his career at Heracles in 2007. He left in 2012 to rival FC Twente, but returned to Heracles in 2015. Over the years, he scored four goals in 307 games and delivered fifteen assists.

“Actually I have been Heraclied since 2007 and I am happy that this will continue for at least another year. The road to Almelo has remained the same since those early years and the club culture has also changed, but otherwise the club has grown in all facets. we will continue together, “says Breukers on the club’s website.
