Bretten’s pupils visit the blood donation center in the Karlsruhe clinic

On Tuesday, 20 students from the vocational schools of Bretten (BSB) visited the department of transfusion medicine and hemostasiology of the municipal clinic in Karlsruhe.

Dr Beate Barta, a specialist in transfusion medicine, anesthesia and haemostasiology, showed the students of the BSB socio-medical scientific high school the blood donation centre, the laboratory and the blood depository and explained how canned blood is produced and where it is used. Six students then donated blood.

“Some of the students were already donating blood, but some are also first-time donors,” Barta reports. “Since many people who regularly donate blood with us will retire from the blood donor group in the medium term for age reasons, we are urgently looking for young people. That’s why we were very pleased that the BSB students got an insight into the donation of blood”.

Blood donation appointments can be conveniently and easily booked online via www.Blutspendetermine-Karlsruhe.de or by telephone on 0721 974-1720. The hospital’s blood donation center is open Monday through Friday.

Blood donors can park for free in the multi-storey car park on Knielinger Allee. The Knielinger Allee tram stop is also very close. You can find the way to us on the map.
