Brett Favre blames the NFL for his Parkinson’s

Former quarterback Brett Favre’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease has brought back the topic of concussions in the NFL.

Favre has said that since last January he began having trouble using his right arm and was unable to hold a screwdriver steadily.

Favre made the announcement while testifying on Capitol Hill about a welfare scandal in which he is accused of misusing his connections to get money. Favre has denied all wrongdoing and has returned more than $1 million to the state.

“The challenges my family and I have faced over the last three years due to certain government officials in Mississippi failing to protect federal funds and unjustifiably trying to place blame on me, those challenges have damaged my good name and are worse than anything I have faced in football,” Favre said.

House Republicans have accused Favre of welfare misappropriation in Mississippi and pointed to the need for an overhaul of the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.

Favre has said he did not know the payments he received came from welfare funds and has noted that his charity had provided millions of dollars to poor children in his home state of Mississippi and in Wisconsin, where he played most of his career with the Green Bay Packers.

Favre is one of the most iconic players. He is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame and had a 20-year career. He ended his NFL career in 2009, having suffered from CTE symptoms such as memory loss and stuttering, although he is not the only victim of this condition, as there are several former players in the League who have suffered from this type of condition after their retirement.

Other cases have been that of Andre Waters, historic defensive player for the Philadelphia Eagles; Mike Webster, winner of four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers; Dwight Clark, receiver of the 49ers dynasty with Joe Montana; Mike Webster, winner of four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers; Andre Waters, defensive player for the Philadelphia Eagles; and Aaron Hernandez, considered one of the great promises who in 2012 ended up in prison due to the death of two people, while in 2017 he was found dead by the guards of the prison where he was an inmate.
