Held in check at home by TA Rennes, reserve Stade Brestois can still settle for a draw this Saturday after playing 10 against 11 for more than half an hour.

Very quickly in action and in the hole, the Brest collective was surprised by the first foray of Rennes. On a touch to the right, Bellier finds a flaw and exploits it by finding Massé’s goal at 16 meters (0-1, 5′). Not at all disunited and always on the same pace, Brest reacted with a header from Lecaille (14′), and equalized with Legendre’s off-center free-kick deflected on goal by the visiting captain (1-1, 17′) . The two teams then face each other according to a predictable pattern: ball possession and pressure from Brest against a well-established defense and constant danger on the counterattack.
Wrong penalty for Camblan
As soon as play resumed, the face changed. First from the more successful Rennais but clumsy in crosses, then two unfavorable strokes of luck at the Stade Brestois: Lossec’s exclusion for a second yellow card (53′), and a penalty obtained but missed by Camblan (56′). TA Rennes did not then exploit their numerical superiority despite the activity of the Rousselet-Arttaillou-Ahamada trio and a point-blank header from Poissonneau well caught by Massé (87′).
For Rennes coach Ludovic Royer, “We go home with a logical draw, because even with the numerical superiority and the best ball possession in the second half, we just failed to worry them.” Nicolas Mariller, coach of Brest, preferred to be positive despite the lack of victory: “I remember the intensity and values of playing as a team. We miss the penalty, it doesn’t go the right way but we haven’t parted and there are ingredients for the future.”
