Brentford took the lead in the 19th minute after an own goal from Ibrahim Konate. The home team’s second goal was disallowed for offside after the intervention of the video referee in the 40th minute, but Yoane Wissa got the ball into the goal again after two minutes and this time made the score 2:0. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s men gave hope after the break thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal, but in the 84th minute Brian Mbeumo once again calmed the home side.
Liverpool lost for the first time after four wins. The last time he had to suffer defeat was on October 29 in a duel with Leeds.
