Brenda Jansone’s exhibition “Stigma Under the Dermis” will open the art event space “Freedom”

According to Andrejs Vīksna, editor of the online magazine “Satori”, Jansone’s series “Stigma under the dermis” consists of various objects – an artificial, synthetic volume of silicone created in the form removed from a living human body, in which tattoo needle designs are replaced resemblance to the original. Through skin, hair and tattoos, the exhibition explores the view of the human body, the stigmas and attitudes that surround it.

Next to Brenda’s exhibition, the second floor of the room will feature “Brick Bar Series”, the authors of which are “Golfclayderman”, Pēteris Ķimelis, Dāvis Kaņepe, Ivars Grāvlejs, “SRSRT”, Evelīna Vida, André Vida and Katrīna Neiburga.

According to Vīksna, the idea of ​​”Freedom” arose after the exhaustion of cultural and social life experienced during the pandemic with the desire to organize cultural events in a free, informal, institutionally unencumbered and open form. The online magazine “Satori” and Henrik Elias Zegner participate in the production of the events, the author of the graphic design is Aleksandrs Breže, the technical producer is Aleksejs Beļeckis.

The exhibition will be open until October 28. The opening hours of the art event room “Brīvība” are scheduled from 15 to 20 from Wednesday to Saturday. Visitors to the opening must present the Covid-19 vaccination certificate together with an identity document.
