Bremen rises, HSV plays relegation

Bremen is returning to the German Bundesliga after just a year. With Marco Friedl and Romano Schmid (up to 56th), Werder won their last second division game against Jahn Regensburg 2-0 (1-0) on Sunday and, like Schalke 04 a week earlier, secured immediate promotion. HSV secured the relegation place with a 3-1 (0-1) win at Hansa Rostock, the Bundesliga Dino, who was once undelegated, now meets Hertha BSC Berlin.

Niclas Füllkrug (10th) and Marvin Ducksch (51st) ensured Werder’s success, the second-placed team ended up two points behind Schalke. Several people were injured during the ensuing storm. In this context, the Bremen police spoke of more than 20 injuries on Sunday evening, some of whom had to be taken to the hospital. The further investigations are ongoing, it said.

Schalke gets master plate

Schalke’s substitutes Reinhold Ranftl and Martin Fraisl won 2-1 (1-0) at Nuremberg (Nikola Dovedan from 58th). After the final whistle, thousands of fans from both camps gathered peacefully in front of the main stand to watch the championship trophy being handed over to Schalke.

HSV turns game in Rostock

There was high tension in Rostock. There, HSV was 1-0 down for a long time, only late goals from Sebastian Schonlau (75th) and Mikkel Kaufmann (85th) brought the guests the 3:2 and thus the ticket for the promotion relegation. Hamburg defended third place against Darmstadt.

A 3-0 (3-0) home win against Paderborn was not enough for the “Lilien” who were tied on points, Emir Karic and Mathias Honsak (from 77th) played for Darmstadt. Hertha trainer Felix Magath was unlucky and watched the potential opponent for free. Magath’s Berliners will now meet HSV on May 19 (home game) and May 23 (away).

FC Erzgebirge Aue and FC Ingolstadt had already been relegated before the last matchday. Dynamo Dresden, which meets third-division third-placed 1. FC Kaiserslautern, has to go into relegation.
