As an employee of a money transport company, the woman is said to have stolen around 8.2 million euros in cash from the business premises in Bremen in May 2021. Defendant: “I wanted to go back to my family”
But she no longer felt comfortable there, explained Carsten Scheuchzer, Yasemin G.’s lawyer, in an interview with RTL before the trial began. “She doesn’t have Turkish papers, she doesn’t speak Turkish, the center of her life is in Germany,” he said. G. didn’t want to run away from him anymore. So his client turned himself in voluntarily in March.
“I wanted to be back with my family,” explained the 32-year-old. Yasemin G.’s testimony on the first day of the trial lasted two hours. A friend urged her to do the deed. Her supporters included her best friend, who had already been convicted, and her ex-boyfriend, who was also in prison. During her time in Turkey, she was imprisoned again and came into contact with various criminals.

Where is the money?
This question remains open throughout the testimony of Yasemin G. When the judge asked, she said, “You have to ask my ex-husband.” As her defense lawyer explained in an interview with RTL, the 32-year-old was woken up by her supporters. She thought she would get six million from the loot. Her lawyer also claims: “Essentially, my client did not benefit from the theft. ”But perhaps G. did not leave completely empty. She said in court that she received around 20,000 to 25,000 euros from the loot.

A million dollar thief could face a long prison sentence
According to her lawyer, Yasemin G. is aware that she is in danger of being convicted. She fears for her life and a long prison term. As soon as she has served her sentence, the young woman wants to live with her family and work again. If convicted in regional court, the accused millionaire thief could face up to ten years in prison. The defense attorney is seeking a prison sentence without parole and is hoping for five years in prison. So far, nine trial days have been scheduled for the case of the accused millionaire thief.
