The hospital association is raising the alarm: the 50 million euros promised by the state for the necessary construction work are not enough. The hospitals are demanding double the amount.

The Bremen hospitals are demanding more money from the state of Bremen. In a statement, the hospital association criticizes the fact that the investment funds promised so far, amounting to around 50 million euros, are not sufficient for the necessary construction work.

The hospital association for Bremen and Bremerhaven has calculated that the need is twice as high – around 112 million euros. This money would be needed every year to finally resolve the current investment backlog in the private and municipal hospitals in the state of Bremen, says managing director Uwe Zimmer.

Health Ministry wants to raise more money

The Bremen Health Department admits that the hospitals need at least 22 million euros more. The Senator will endeavour to close this gap in the budget negotiations for 2025, buten un binnen said in response to a query. The financing of Bremen’s hospitals will be discussed in the health deputation on Tuesday.

The promised funds will be used, among other things, to expand pediatric nursing at the Reinkenheide Clinic in Bremerhaven. The Bremen Nord Clinic is expanding the delivery room area because the number of births has increased in recent years.
