The doubles seem to be developing into the favorite discipline of SV Werder Bremen: For the fifth time in the still young season of the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), the team from the Weser had to go into the decisive match on Sunday, and for the second time they won . Werder fought TTC OE Bad Homburg 3: 2 on matchday 5 and are now at 4: 8 points. Bremen had already won doubles on matchday three at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.
Match winners back then: Kirill Gerassimenko and Marcel Aguirre, who together ensured victory. And this line-up by Bremen coach Cristian Tamas also proved to be spot on against Bad Homburg. Against Rares Sipos and Cedric Meissner it only got tight in the first set, and after Gerassimenko / Aguirre had secured it with 14:12, they dominated the match and celebrated an ultimately safe 3: 0 (14:12, 11: 5, 11 : 4). “It was a very strong game for us today,” said Gerassimenko. “We showed a good team performance and all contributed to the success.”
Yuta Tanaka becomes Bad Homburg’s beacon of hope
Before that, the Kazakh had already won his individual in third place and thus provided Werder with a 2-1 lead in the meantime. Against Lubomir Jancarik, Gerassimenko scored 3-0 (11: 7, 11: 5, 11: 7). Mattias Falck also won the singles for Bremen, who defeated Cedric Meissner 3: 0 (11: 2, 11: 9, 11: 5) and is now 8: 4. On the other hand, Yuta Tanaka was unbeatable. The TTC newcomer from Japan only made his debut on Friday and paid the hardship in the 3-0 draw against Bergneustadt’s Alberto Mino. This time Tanaka played a big role: First he got his maiden win 3: 1 (11: 6, 13:11, 5:11, 11: 4) against Aguirre, a little later he left 3: 1 (11: 6, 4 : 11, 11: 9, 12:10) against Falck followed by another success.
Tanaka is now Bad Homburg’s bearer of hope for the coming weeks. As the only team in the league, the Hessians are still without a win and are therefore in last place in the table with 0:10 points. “Yuta played very, very well – but we didn’t have a chance in the other games. We are of course very disappointed “, Sipos summed up and took a look at the upcoming Hessenderby against the TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell on Wednesday:” We are going home and will try everything on Wednesday against Fulda to make it with the win. “
