The high dynamics of the spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in Germany and especially in our region in the first half of March led to the federal, state and local authorities having to have restrictions in order to protect people from the infection and overwhelming them of the healthcare system to avoid. Thanks to the very good participation of the citizens and the good work of the health authorities, we were able to ensure that the rate of infection in Germany has now slowed.

Against this background, the federal government has agreed with the governments of the federal states a roadmap to relax the restrictions. If the loosening is not to lead to regressions, it must be possible to implement and check them precisely on site.

We are now entering a new phase of the pandemic for the communities and the district. In addition to the increased activities on site, special protection for vulnerable groups such as nursing homes, senior citizens and disabled facilities is necessary. The district continues to support the relevant institutions through the procurement and distribution of medical protective equipment.

After it was necessary in the first phase to show the development of the number of cases in the entire district, the district office will publish them every Thursday on each homepage on our website, so that the population can get a community-specific picture of the development in the community with regard to the restriction loosening .

We expressly point out that the number of cases can only be a limited indicator. First, we only see developments in the confirmed cases with a time lag. Secondly, the experts suspect that the actual infection in a dynamic situation is many times higher (approx. 5 to 10 times more infections than the cases confirmed with Covid-19).

The number of cases should therefore only be used to a limited extent to assess the situation in a community. For the population, this means that contact restrictions must continue to be taken seriously, even if the number of cases in the respective community is low.
