Breeders and farmers must be patient, the government continues to prevent the spread of PMK

PASURUAN, Radar Bromo – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) stated that livestock are still legal as sacrificial animals even though they are exposed to mouth and nail disease (PMK). The origin is that the animal is experiencing symptoms that are classified as mild or have even recovered from FMD. Various efforts are also being made so that the spread of PMK does not spread in Pasuruan Regency.

The Pasuruan Regency Government took concrete steps after there were reports of findings of PMK cases in several sub-districts. Among them, Lekok, Kejayan, Lumbang, Nguling, Pandaan, Prigen, Purwosari, Sukorejo, Tutur, and Winongan.

Pasuruan Regent Irsyad Yusuf stated that the cause of the findings of the case was dominated by factors of buying and selling livestock and feed from outside Pasuruan. Especially, districts or cities that are affected by the PMK. So, many cows are infected.

“Because there are still many cows that buy or sell from outside the region. I ask them to refrain from buying and selling livestock from and to outside the region,” said Gus Irsyad.

In addition to urging breeders and farmers to exercise restraint, the Pasuruan Regency Government is trying to bring in vaccines for livestock. What is certain is that cattle that are sick with FMD are also treated. “We continue to treat those who are infected until they recover,” he explained.

Gus Irsyad also hopes that farmers will not rush to sell them if their cattle are sick. Especially selling at a low price. Because, PMK can be treated and cured as long as the treatment is fast.

Asked about the cows that died as a result of PMK, Gus Irsyad admitted that there were no reports confirming this. Even if he dies due to PMK, there needs to be evidence of laboratory test results.
