While announcing the quarterly figures Nintendo has reconfirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 should be released this year. In 2019, it was announced that there would be a sequel to the 2017 game. Last year 2022 was first mentioned as the year of release, but since it’s been very quiet around the sequel since then, many fans thought the game would be delayed after all. An exact release date of the sequel to Breath of the Wild has not yet been released.
Nintendo further published a list of this year’s upcoming releases. For example, it says in the list that we have Triangle Strategy and Kirby and the Forgotten Land can expect in March 2022. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is coming in Spring 2022. Other titles in the list, such as Metroid Prime 4, do not have a release period yet.
Nintendo Switch sold 103 million copies
During the announcement of the quarterly figures, Nintendo also reported that 103.54 million copies of the Nintendo Switch have now been shipped. With this, Nintendo breaks records of the Wii and PlayStation. It’s just not yet the best-selling handheld console of all time for Nintendo. That record belongs to the Nintendo DS family. The DS has sold no less than 154.02 million times.
