Initiative. The Ministry of Women and the American pharmaceutical company MSD LATAM, based in Panama, are preparing a workshop on breast cancer in response to the increase in cases in the country.
This was the central theme of the meeting held by the Minister of Women, Niurka Palacio, with Andrés Barreto, Director of Government Affairs, Public Policies and Communications of this company, together with their work teams, in which they agreed to provide the training on October 14 with the participation of a scientist who has conducted important studies on this disease as part of prevention and care policies in early stages.
“If we identify breast cancer in its early stages, the chances of a cure increase and the cost of treatment decreases, so it is important that women and their families are made aware of this disease,” said Palacio.
Barreto, for her part, explained that the issue of triple negative breast cancer, which is a more aggressive, complicated version and is on the rise, was discussed with Minister Palacio. “Cancer is a disease that has a health component, but also a social one, because the affected women are part of a family and often support them, so prevention or detection in early stages is important,” she said.
