President Iván Duque sanctioned Law 2194 ‘Rebuilding Dreams’ authored by Valle del Cauca Representative Juan Fernando Reyes Kuri, which seeks to guarantee the reconstruction of both breasts for women who have suffered from breast cancer in Colombia.
Reyes Kuri assured that “now women who survive breast cancer will be able to access the two prostheses in the shortest possible time, without so many paperwork, after having fought against this disease that takes so many lives in the country. The Health Promotion Entities, EPS, of any regime must guarantee this rehabilitation as stipulated in the law.

According to the cancer institute, between diagnosis and the start of the first treatment, breast cancer patients can wait up to 59 days to be seen. “This is absurd! The attention should now be as soon as possible once diagnosed,” said the Representative.
“Let us remember that breast cancer is the most common, deadliest and most protected in the country. Now we are starting to rebuild dreams,” Reyes Kury said.

For her part, Diana Lucía Appleton, better known as ‘the angel of women with cancer in Valle del Cauca’ celebrated the sanction of this new Law.
“Thank you Reyes Kuri for thinking of women diagnosed with breast cancer, today we celebrate that this project has already been sanctioned and that it will save many lives,” Diana concluded.
