When Ferguson was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was advised to have surgery. She has now recovered from this. She talks about it candidly in her podcast ‘Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah’. Fergie has named her reconstructed breast Derek. She also calls him “her new best friend.” He is very important because he saved my life.
The name Derek turns out to be chosen very randomly. “I don’t know why I chose Derek,” says Ferguson. “I just had to laugh that I now have a friend who is always with me.”
She tells Sarah Thomson, the co-host of the podcast, that she feels much better after the operation. The Duchess will soon take a car ride because her body is “like a new car. New wheels and a new engine,” she says.
