INDOPOSCO.ID – Oncology (Cancer) Surgeon at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital I Gusti Ngurah Gunawan Wibisana explained some of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer that women may experience.
In an online discussion held on Monday (13/2/2023), Gunawan said 90 percent of breast cancer symptoms experienced by patients were lumps in the breast that didn’t feel painful.
“This is exactly what needs to be watched out for, this symptom most often occurs, but it is also what sufferers often ignore because there is no pain resulting from the lump,” he said.
However, there are other symptoms that can be seen more clearly from breast cancer, one of which is a change in the skin around the nipples.
This change does not just change color to become darker or lighter, but appears like a wound or skin that reacts due to allergies.
“It looks like there are wounds and allergies or just like dermatitis,” said Gunawan.
These symptoms do not occur right on the nipple, but in a specific area around the nipple, namely the areola area.
“We call this sign the name paget’s disease, the skin in that area feels like it is peeling or scaly and itchy,” he added, quoted by Antara.
