Social Health Insurance (Essalud) detected during 2022 a total of 10,203 insured with breast, cervix, prostate, lung, stomach and skin cancer.

As reported by the Essalud Health Intelligence and Information Office, the cases detected in these six types of cancer increased by 31.1% compared to all of 2021 (7,785).
In the case of breast cancer, in 2022 there were 3,166, 18% more than the previous year, which was 2,599. In that same year, 1,877 cases of skin cancer (33% more), 1,480 cases of cervical cancer (8% more), 2,195 cases of prostate cancer (34% more), 804 cases of lung cancer ( 24% more) and 1,082 cases of stomach cancer (19% more).
Regarding lung cancer cases, 57% were female and 43% male. While for breast cancer, 97% correspond to women and 3% to men.

Also, during the past year, cases of cervical cancer were more concentrated in the group between 45 and 49 years, while prostate cancer in 75 and 79 years.
Regarding the sex of the cases of stomach cancer, 56% were male and 43% female.
Along the same lines, cases of lung cancer in women comprised 57% and 43% in men. While for breast cancer, 97% correspond to women and 3% to men.

In relation to the cases of melanoma and other skin tumors, 51% were female and 49% male.
