Breast cancer and metastasis patients denounce lack of medicines at the State Cancer Center – Reporte Laguna

They make a strong appeal to the governor of Durango to support them

Gómez Palacio, Durango.- A group of patients diagnosed with breast cancer and metastasis reported that for more than a month there has been no medication at the State Cancer Center in the city of Durango, in addition to pointing out mistreatment and arrogance on the part of the management staff of this center.

Patients say that medical care is excellent, but they said that the constant lack of medication has become a nightmare.

“We went to the administrative directors of the hospital, but they did not give us any support or solution, as the administrator’s response was that: “the batch has already been ordered and has stopped arriving, so there is no precise date for when it will arrive, only suggesting that we speak by phone to find out if these drugs are already available,” said Anavelina Vargas, one of the users of the State Cancer Center.

The patient explained that, in her case, she had to ask her family for support to raise 24 thousand pesos and buy the medicine she needs for this month. “If there is no medicine next month, I don’t know what I will do, maybe sell the car, but it’s not mine, it’s my dad’s,” she said.

She said that she is not the only one suffering from this situation, since only in Gómez Palacio, there are at least 5 patients who continue to be treated at the state cancer center, while in the entire state, at least 15 patients require the expensive medications.

For this reason, Vargas called on the state governor to intervene and provide the monthly medication they need to treat their condition.

“As vulnerable patients, without the resources to meet our medical needs in a private hospital and without the possibility of financing our treatment, we find ourselves in urgent need of requesting your intervention as a state official. It is vital that the essential medicines are provided in a timely manner to guarantee decent health and more years of life,” concluded Anavelina Vargas, who spoke on behalf of her sick colleagues.
