A 7-year-old girl with spina bifida had her spine reconstructed at the Veltișcev Research Institute.
Due to the complications of the congenital malformation, the little girl had a wound that would not heal. The rare and complex operation was performed by two surgeons, an anesthesiologist and a transfusion specialist.
During the operation, the surgeons corrected the spine, replaced the damaged areas and restored the normal structure of the spinal canal.
Spinal hernia or spina bifida is a congenital defect of the spine that manifests itself through the incomplete closure of the spinal canal. This condition can lead to various disorders in the functioning of the body, such as paralysis of the lower limbs, urinary disorders and other health problems.
The surgical intervention will allow the girl to live a full life and avoid possible complications and disorders.
This case is a good example of how important is the development of medical science and technology, as well as timely access to medical help. Such operations can change the lives of many children and their families for the better, opening up new opportunities and perspectives for the future
