Colleen Hoover, one of the most influential authors in contemporary literature, has seen her novel “It Ends with Us” brought to the big screen under the title “Breaking the Circle.” The film, which debuted in Cones and achieved great box office numbers, now arrives in Max’s catalog and can be seen starting this October 11. The drama addresses deep themes such as childhood trauma and domestic violence.
The story follows Lily Bloom, played by Blake Lively, who after a difficult childhood, moves to Boston to open her own business. There, she finds herself emotionally caught between two men: her first love, Atlas Corrigan (played by Brandon Sklenar), and neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni).

The plot of Breaking the Circle focuses on Lily’s life as she struggles to establish her plant and flower shop in Boston. An unexpected encounter with Allysa (played by Jenny Slate), Ryle’s sister, leads Lily to reevaluate her relationship with him when disturbing behaviors begin to emerge that remind her of the domestic violence her mother suffered. The sudden appearance of Atlas, who had a difficult adolescence, further complicates Lily’s situation, forcing her to confront her past and make crucial decisions about her future.
The film adaptation, directed by one of the film’s protagonists, Justin Baldoni, has a cast that includes Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Kevin McKidd, Amy Morton and Isabela Ferrer. Executive produced by Colleen Hoover, Todd Black, Steve Sarowitz, Andrea Ajemian, Andrew Calof and John Logan Pierson, while overall production is handled by Alex Saks, Jamey Heath and Christy Hall.
