Liputan6.com, Jakarta – As ordinary people, it’s normal to feel afraid of taking the wrong step when a bird suddenly dies. This may indeed cause confusion.
However, according to the advice of the former Director of Communicable Diseases of the World Health Organization (World Health Organization or WHO) for Southeast Asia, Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, there are several steps that can be taken when you find that a bird has died suddenly in the surrounding environment amidst an outbreak of flu cases. H5N1 bird.
“If around us there are dead chickens or birds, then don’t touch them. If there are dead chickens, what we do is contact the animal health department to come for an analysis,” said Tjandra in the webinar H5N1 Avian Flu Disease Precautions with the Indonesian Lung Doctors Association (PDIP) recently.
“The animal health department shouldn’t have come alone. He should have come with the health center staff. So, don’t touch it, don’t bury it,” he added.
Chickens Die Not Certain because of Bird Flu
This is because according to Tjandra, it is not certain that poultry will die from bird flu. So, it’s better to find out the cause first.
“It’s not certain that it’s because of bird flu. Come down together first,” said Tjandra.
Meanwhile, if someone is suspected of having Clade bird flu, Tjandra suggests finding out with the health center staff whether there is indeed a connection with transmission from poultry.
“If there are people who are sick with suspected bird flu, hopefully there won’t be any, then the health center and animal health officers go down to see if there is a possibility of transmission from poultry. That’s what we do,” he said.
