Senator Diana Șoșoacă is under criminal investigation by DIICOT prosecutors for thwarting the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic after she blocked the activity of a vaccination center.
The case was declined by the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime, judicial sources confirmed for G4Media.
Diana Șoșoacă blocked, on September 8, the activity of a vaccination center from Răchiteni commune (Iași) which was in the red scenario. On that day, according to the director of the Iași Public Health Directorate, Dr. Vasile Cepoi, no one was vaccinated.
On September 4, the doors of the center were blocked by a group of anti-vaccination protesters led by parliamentarian Diana Șoșoacă.
„Down with the mask! Down with the mask! Down with the masquerade! In prison! The mayor in prison! No vaccination!“, Chanted Diana Șoșoacă, seconded by the supporters. Diana Șoșoacă also made a live broadcast on Facebook from the commune, which she claims is her constituency.
People fled in fright and no one was vaccinated, as stated by the director of DSP Iasi, Vasile Cepoi:
- “We have problems, the last undesirable situation is the intervention of Senator Șoșoacă in Răchiteni, who blocked a vaccination action of people who expressed this wish, by her presence with a larger group of people who did not allow them to between getting vaccinated. Unfortunately, it is an illegal action “.
Doctor Elena Popa, who led the mobile team in Răchiteni, says she feared for her and the team’s lives. Elena Popa believes that Diana Șoșoacă must be stopped:
- “How did I feel? I was afraid for my safety, for the safety of the team and I was very disappointed that I was not able to fulfill the activity for which I went there. Honestly, I feared for my life at some point. That’s why I went out in front, because they were knocking on the door, shouting at the door and I went out to talk to them as much as I could. Plus I found some citizens there who wanted to get vaccinated and couldn’t get into the building. They ran away, they were chased away, I can’t tell you. We were told that the police would be there, but they were not. “Their attitude was very aggressive, both verbally and physically.”
