Breaking Records: GIGABYTE Achieves Record DDR5 RAM Speeds with Intel Alder Lake Processors

GIGABYTE Sets New World Record for DDR5 Memory Overclocking

Memory standard RAM DDR5 arrived at home at the end of 2021 thanks to processors Intel Alder Lake and dedicated motherboards. Originally, however, the new modules were very expensive and not much more efficient than the top DDR4. However, technology has improved over time.

GIGABYTE, a leading manufacturer of computer components, recently boasted about the capabilities of its components. Currently, in stores, you can easily get DDR5 memory with an effective clock speed of 7800 MHz. However, this is not the end of the potential of this standard, as extreme overclockers continue to prove.

GIGABYTE proudly announced that one of its overclockers, HICOOKIE, achieved a record result in the past few days, reaching an impressive 11,254 MT/s for DDR5 RAM. HICOOKIE, a Taiwanese overclocker, used the Intel Core i9-13900K (engineering sample) processor, GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Tachyon motherboard, and AORUS DDR5 modules. To achieve this feat, liquid nitrogen cooling was necessary. The latencies for the RAM were CL 64-127-127-127-2.

In order to keep the memory controller as stable as possible, the processor had all cores enabled but the clock speed was limited to 804 MHz. The motherboard, designed with enthusiasts in mind, also played a significant role in this achievement. It featured a thick laminate, shielded and properly routed paths from DDR5 banks, and a strong power section for the CPU.

For comparison, SEBY9123 currently holds the second-place position. The American overclocker used an Intel Core i9-13900KS processor, ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard, and G.SKILL Trident Z5 memory to achieve a clock speed of 11,252 MT/s. The difference between the two results is minimal, highlighting the impressive capabilities of DDR5 memory.

While these extreme overclocking results are not practical for everyday use, they demonstrate the potential of DDR5 memory and deserve recognition. As technology continues to advance, we can expect even higher clock speeds and improved performance from DDR5 memory modules.

In related news, MSI has recently introduced cheaper graphics cards for RGB LED opponents, and old motherboards will now support new Intel processors.
