- UPDATE 15.09 The leader of the PSD, Marcel Ciolacu, told Parliament on Monday that he will have a meeting with the National Political Council of the PSD at 4 pm, in which it will be decided who will propose the party to the Ministry of Defense.
Angel Tîlvăr (60) has been a member of parliament since 2004 (senator and later deputy). From 1985 until his arrival in Parliament he was an English teacher.
Currently, Angel Tîlvăr is chairman of the delegation of the Romanian parliament to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Angel Tîlvăr’s father was in charge of counterintelligence in Vrancea before December 1989 during the Communist era. He died in 2017 at the age of 82.
Tîlvăr was promoted to PSD Vrancea by former local baron Marian Oprișan. In 2020, however, Tîlvăr supported Marcel Ciolacu at the head of the party, which is why he got into political conflict with Oprișan, according to G4Media sources.
